This week we hosted a session of ‘Let’s Get Talking’ at our Tuesday LiL. This initiative is aimed at assisting the development of oral language in our little learners. Developing the skills of speaking to others is very important to communicate effectively. We were joined by others from nearby schools to share the information and tips provided by our consultant Sarah. As this is an initiative across the Devonport government schools and our CFLC (Child and Family Learning Centre), you are welcome to join other schools when they host their sessions of ‘Let’s Get Talking’. The next one will be held at the CFLC in East Devonport, we would love to see you!

Every Tuesday after school our teaching staff come together to discuss school matters, plan, and continue to further our professional knowledge. From time to time our TAs join us for professional learning. On Tuesday we were very fortunate to participate in professional learning that was focused on inclusive practice led by our Senior School Psychologist, Sally Rayner. Thank you Sally for helping us learn more about how we can best support all our students at Devonport Primary.

Have a great term break everyone!
Kind regards
Ms Nichole Todd

On Monday the 22nd September, eight enthusiastic Grade 5/6 students added some excitement to their week by competing in the annual Math Relay Competition in Burnie. Accompanied by Mr. Metske and Mrs. Parker, the two teams tackled problem after problem with sharp minds and even sharper pencils.
Both teams performed exponentially well, showing off their number sense, teamwork, and quick thinking. The highlight of the day? Our incredible girls team divided the competition and subtracted the pressure to secure an impressive 3rd place out of almost 30 teams! Now that’s what we call a prime result!
A huge congratulations to all our mathletes—you really calculated your way to success. We’re so positive you’ll keep solving challenges with the same integral spirit!
Everyone looked fabulous in their favourite sporting colours today and we raised $208.50 for the Fight Cancer Foundation. Well Done !!

FREE STEM School Holiday Programs
For those who don't know much about these sessions, Bitlink runs tech education workshops with young people that enable them to be creative with technology. These programs are funded by the Australian Government through a grant we received, and are free to all participants.
The sessions are also supported by the Children's University, and so please encourage these sessions to your local youth who participate in that program. They can earn hours towards their passport with our sessions (and they get a funky sticker!). Also if you have an eschool or homeschool youth in your networks, they are also more than welcome to attend too! So if you can share our workshops to those networks too, that would also be appreciated!
The sessions are targeted at 9-16 year olds. Children younger than 9 are encouraged to come along with an adult (for assistance with reading and comprehension). Parents are welcome to stay for the whole sessions, and some even enjoy taking part in the session too if there is a spare laptop! Participants don't need to bring any technology or anything, as we supply it all ourselves for the workshops.
