Welcome Back
Welcome back to school for term 4. This term will fly by and before we know it the end of the year will be here. Before we get to the end of the year there will be many fun activities to be involved in and lots of learning of course! This week our grade 5/6 students went on an excursion to Brickendon which was enjoyed by all. Our grade 2/3 classes will be attending a performance of Beanstalk next week at the Paranaple Centre and we have the Terrapin Puppet Theatre coming to visit us in week 3. Our grade 3/4 sports expo will taking place in week 5 and of course our grade 6 students will be participating in transition visits to High School throughout the term. These are just a few of the events taking place this term. Keep an eye out on our App for more information and to keep up to date with coming events.
Attendance
A reminder to students and families that EVERY day at school matters. It is very important that students are at school to learn, to have fun with their friends and to be connected to school staff. When students are away, it is hard to catch up missed work and maintain friendships. We have very good attendance here at DPS – currently it sits at 88% for the whole school with our year 2 students leading the way with 92% attendance. Whilst 88% is great, let’s work together to see if we can get this number even higher! Of course, there are times when students need to be away from school, please call the office or message us via our App to let us know a reason for the absence. Thank you for your support.
Car Park
Our chain gate at the entrance to the school carpark is still a work in process. We are waiting on the chain to arrive which we are told will be here soon and then it can be installed. The chain will be up until 9:30 every morning, when it will be dropped for deliveries and student pick ups of unwell students etc during the day. It will again be lifted in the afternoon. The installation of the chain is to provide a safer entry and exit to the school grounds from Stewart Street. We will trial these times and make adjustments if needed to try and meet the needs of all in the community.
Supervision
A reminder that duty commences at 8:40 in the playground each school day. Before this time there is no supervision of students. Parents/carers are asked to not send students to school before this time as there is no adult supervision. The school day ends at 2:50 with teacher supervision of students occurring until 3:20 at the bus shelter area.
School Oval
Our oval rejuvenation is going very well. Over the school holidays it was cored, reseeded and topped up with sand to assist with drainage. It is looking great, but we need to wait for the seed to grow a bit more before we can use it. Fingers crossed for some warmer weather to help make it grow faster!
Kind regards
Ms Nichole Todd
